The badassBox 4 is the result of more than a year of development work. We have completely redesigned the housing, made it slimmer - which means that there are no longer too narrow installation situations.
The badassBox runs on one AAA battery (included). You can get replacements for the supplied battery cheaply and literally on every corner. You can carry out the replacement yourself anywhere in the shortest possible time without the use of tools. We recommend replacing the battery at least once a year at the start of the season. Thanks to our specially developed and patented field enhancement technology FEET (Field Enhancement & Elimination Technology), you can go a long way with one battery. To protect against moisture and mechanical stress on the wheel, the electronics are glued into the housing with a special sealing compound and completely sealed.

The integrated Giant sensor is located in the dropout area.
To get to the sensor you have to remove the rear wheel.
Find the position of the integrated sensor in the dropout of your e-bike and loosen the screws that hold the sensor in place.
Place the sensor in the recess provided on the badassBox.
The badassBox Giant 2020 is mounted on the chainstay together with the sensor using cable ties (included in delivery).
During initial assembly, the supplied spoke magnet must be installed instead of the original magnet. Our spoke magnet works in the same way as the original magnet without the badassBox, but is necessary for the function with our patented field reinforcement when the badassBox is attached.
Reinstall the rear wheel and screw the supplied spoke magnet onto a spoke so that the magnet faces the badassBox. The spoke magnet must be aligned next to the badassBox. To check the position of the magnet on the stationary bike, lift it up at the back, turn the rear wheel (not the cranks!) and let it run. Pay attention to the speedometer or app of your bike. The displayed speed should be steady and drop off slowly as the rear wheel coasts.
If the spoke magnet touches the badassBox, the spoke magnet must be placed as close as possible to the badassBox and rotated by 90°. Complete!
The badassBox transmits a modified signal without contact, without an electrical connection to the motor, without interfering with the motor electronics or software, in order to exceed the speed limit. It is not necessary to laboriously open the motor. There is no risk of damage. If the badassBox is removed and the Giant sensor is mounted on the chainstay or the original installation situation in the dropout and the spoke magnet is aligned with it, then the e-bike is restored to its untuned and therefore legal condition.
With all the advantages, an incorrect speed and values derived from it are displayed as a matter of principle. We recommend the use of GPS-related additional devices (mobile phone, bicycle computer, etc.) for more precise driving data recording.
